Menarche Workshops
for girls aged 9-13

FAQs
How much do workshops cost?
Workshops are currently listed as "Pay What You Can." Even though businesses may be shut down, quality cycle education should still be available to our girls.

I have more than one daughter. Can I attend with both of them?
Yes! Currently, workshops are hosted online through Zoom. A single admission ticket covers anyone in your household who will be using the same device.

How long do workshops last?
Workshops last about an hour and fifteen minutes. Many girls will have no problem keeping focused for this long, but you know your daughter best! An optional follow-along worksheet is provided if you have a girl who would be able to pay attention better by having things to write down.

Who can attend this workshop?
Any adult is welcome to preview the workshop on their own-- either to see if it would be a good fit for their daughter or to gain the knowledge for themselves.
Any adult who is considered a primary educator can attend with a girl: this especially includes mothers and fathers, but may also include aunts, grandmothers, older sisters, or another trusted grown-up who serves in that important role.
Additionally, this workshop can be attended by any teacher, troop leader, doctor, parish ministry coordinator, etc. who has an interest in previewing the content for children and families they serve.

What age is this best for?
Ideally, a girl would attend this workshop prior to the start of her period-- so the materials are actually written to appeal to girls in 3rd-5th grade as a primary audience; however, some parents may want to wait until their girls are little older to participate. So teens are also very welcome to attend and will still gain a lot of good information about cycle science, hygiene, and self-care throughout the cycle.

Do these workshops cover sex-ed?
Cycle Prep is not a sex-ed workshop. We mention the role of the cycle as a means to eventually carry a pregnancy and briefly discuss the "equation of life" (egg + sperm = baby), but the focus of the workshop is on cycle science, period education, and personal care throughout the cycle.

Do these workshops cover other puberty changes?
Body changes are briefly mentioned, but this workshop is focused solely on menarche. After attending, parents will receive a resource sheet which contains suggestions for books that cover other puberty changes.

Is this a religious workshop?
I am a woman of faith and my materials have been crafted so that they do not conflict with the teachings of the Catholic Church; however, there is nothing religious within the workshop. Every girl deserves accurate knowledge about her growing body along with practical suggestions for self-care and care for others.

Will you teach the girls how to chart their cycles?
We do not cover cycle charting within this workshop. Attendees are very welcome to inquire about taking my teen charting course, which covers the basics of charting for self-knowledge and health. It does not include charting for fertility.
